Trump was pals with Ghislaine Maxwell's dad, Robert Maxwell.

Robert claimed to be an exiled Eastern European nobleman from the Chech Republic.

Like Trump, he was a well-known grifter in NYC in the late 90's.

Those who knew him called him "the Bouncing Chech."

Great report, all accurate - ignore the MAGA comments. Another point - Epstein said that Trump had no moral compass! (as we have learned)

Thank you, Nina, for sharing your excellent research. I have to believe that you threw up in your mouth more than once during your quest. These totally clueless men trying to defend orange - or worse yet, compare him to JFK - have no concept of consensual or underage sex. Disgusting and shameful.

Nina, thank you for an in depth timeline that shows just how far back the friendship between Trump and Epstein actually started. There must be lots to hide.

For those interested, there is what I believe to be the best article to date about Epstein in the NY Times today, 7/23/25. It's a guest essay written by Barry Levine, who wrote a book about Epstein in the mid 2000's. He asks nine questions that he believes need to be answered. The first question for me is the whole can of worms. "How did Mr. Epstein make his money, and how did he finance his sex trafficking over two decades?"

The reason the government wants to keep it secret has more to do with how he earned his money than the sex. Maybe not so much for Trump, but for the elites, most did not join Epstein in his depravity. There is little doubt IMO that Epstein made his hundreds of millions saving billions of dollars in taxes for the wealthiest people in the world. imagine if the public found out how little in taxes the top 1%'rs actually pay because of tax havens created by people like Epstein.

Wow. How very sad to see this thread turn into a partisan lean. One would have hoped that the focus would have remained on the decapitation of our elected government in 1963. As Jeff D states above, the rampant womanizing and lack of morals by JFK has never been a reason to back away from exposing government lies, deception, and coup d’etat that literally destroyed the innocence of our country and toppled a duly elected president.

It is no surprise that Trump has a sordid history connected to Epstein. To focus there is simply partisan and off the mark of the JFK assassination conspiracy. Are we going to see equivalent coverage of the rapidly expanding Obama scandal that is much more relevant to our democracy and honest government. The Obama-Clinton-Biden-Clapper-Comey-Brennan-Rice scandal (did I miss anyone?) is far more pertinent to democracy, sort of like the JFK assassination

What about the Iraq War lies scandal? Does that bother you Mark? Another Republican debacle, perhaps the most consequential of the last half century or more.

I notice that your concern is completely partisan, and of course timed to the "arrest Obama" PR diversion pumped out in the wake of the news that Bondi asked 1000 FBI agents to "flag" mentions of Trump while they were supposedly preparing the Epstein files for release. And now, one of the great milestones in the sinking of the US Justice Department into utter farce, Trump's personal attorney selling a pardon to a convicted depraved sex offender, in exchange for whatever script they give her. .

For the record I was a life long Democrat for every election up to but not including 2024 ( not just voting but substantial donations and volunteering for the Biden campaign and doing much phone work). I am almost 74 so that’s a long time. You can imagine my disappointment in where the Democratic Party policies today have gone is substantial.

As a Californian we deal every day with backlogged doctor and hospital parking, shortages of housing, billions wasted on a high speed rail to nowhere, tent cities with rampant drug use and increased rents etc and one cannot honestly disregard the pressures created by millions of illegal (yes illegal) immigrants particularly during the last four years. The Democrats use of “Sanctuary’ cities and states to protect illegal immigrants charged or convicted criminals or those with prior court orders for deportation is unconscionable in my opinion.

However I also fully condemn the Republican distortions (like the phony “Curveball” allegations) leading to the totally unwarranted Iraq War. In the past Republicans appeared only focused on wealth over social needs and were not my party. To the Democrats dismay, Trump has effectively absorbed working class Americans of all stripes due to working class friendly policies and support for law and order.

We’ll hopefully see where the Epstein situation goes. Trump is no saint and will have to live with his Epstein past. I don’t buy an Obama diversion. Over the last four years the Biden team would certainly have used any Trump dirt if it was there. The Obama allegations are real and very serious and most importantly pertinent to our democracy. They are supported by significant receipts.

I place the Epstein issues on a lower rung than more significant affronts to our democracy like CIA involvement in the JFK assassination, the Biden dimentia scandal, or the Obama use of unsupported intelligence to undermine a President elect. My heroin at the moment is Congresswoman Luna who is aggressively tackling JFK, RFK, MLK, and Epstein.

Hard to believe, but include me in your new club. A lifelong liberal Dem, from California, in his 70's, who agrees with most if not all that you so well stated. I don't know enough about the Obama claims as yet, so I have to reserve judgement. If you would elaborate on the significant receipts you alluded to, it would be interesting to hear what you've learned.

Thanks Rick. I also find it hard to believe. I went to the trouble of posting personal opinions for others like you (and me). I don’t know more than others on the Obama allegations but receipts are out there with more coming. I trust Tulsi Gabbard as an honorable patriot, smart and articulate. Documents already provided spell out Obama ordering the intelligence community to run with allegations Trump was colluding with Russia and Putin wanted a Trump victory even though ALL prior intelligence indicated only that Russia desired to mess with our election but lacked the capacity to do so. There are also indications Putin expected Clinton to win and disturbing indications she suffered from emotional issues not previously disclosed. Good online sources include Megan Kelly interviewing Matt Taibi and the Glen Beck program (which includes a fascinating interview with Congresswoman Luna.

The reason I haven't paid much attention to the "treasonous" claim by Gabbard, I figure it's all about distraction, like so many other wild claims. So I went digging. I found this report which seems to cover the subject in an objective manner. Most striking to me, the idea that the Senate investigation that took over three years to complete and was made public in 2020 by a bipartisan committee, chaired by Senator Rubio, is somehow wrong; it fails to make Gabbard's claims plausible.

Here's the article:

Gabbard was asked this question on network media. Her response was the congressional committee was basing their conclusions on the intelligence provided to them at the time. Allegedly the documents Gabbard just released were locked in a CIA safe since the Obama directive in December 2016 and so congress was not privy to it. They change the ballgame. In December 2016 the Presidential Daily Brief finding Russian interest in messing with the election but no Trump collusion or Russian Trump bias was replaced with a new PDB based on the Steele Dossier (Clinton financed)and the Obama directive (not actual intelligence)and now finding Trump collusion and Russian Trump bias. It gets more nuanced than many are willing or able to follow. We shall see who if any face any consequences.

So Jefferson, you started your tabloid piece with the provocative tease: "let us take a closer look at why President Trump ordered Kash Patel and Pam Biondi to cease investigation and why that order failed." And then the timeline ensues, which does nothing of the kind. All it does is detail the likelihood that Trump sunk to various depths as a rich playboy, taking advantage of models and other attention-seeking women, and in the process became a regular companion in the sordid world of Jeffrey Epstein. Along with how many others among the rich and famous? But the inferences of nonconsensual or illegal activity with underage girls lack any substantive proof, which shouldn't surprise us because the Demoncrats threw everything they could at him and all they could come up with is Access Hollywood and the woman in the Manhattan store who waited decades to file suit.

Respectable journalists like Sheryl Atkinson have concluded that the Epstein client list is being withheld not because Trump is on it but because the Dems added names falsely to try to entrap Trump and his justice dept.

So in the end, I wonder if your profound left-leaning bias learned in years of association with Washington Post journos is coming out now, with the assistance of Ms. Burleigh?

Nina Burleigh's avatar

There is no "client list" - most of the names are already in the public domain, on flight logs and in depositions, including the hundreds of pages in the Guiffre defamation case. I've been covering this since those depositions were unsealed, shortly before Epstein died. They contain numerous names, and even more redacted names. We already know Clinton flew on the plane, Bill Richardson is in the Giuffre case Depositions. The MAGAs thought the unsealing would reveal the names of depraved liberal pedos. Well, whoops, Trump's name is all over the place, and so they decided to close the case. Now, as a sop to the low-attention spectators on the MAGA side, they're going to trot out the procuress and Trump pal Maxwell who is as I wrote these words represented by a Dershowitz-connected lawyer, and being coached on what to say about Donald. How much money are you willing to bet against her saying he was a perfect gentleman at all times?
