Nothing like a bit of (F)Lloyd to remind us of the Hypocrisy of another Christian right-adjacent cult. There's a long list of sleazebags associated with this pseudo-religious movement since its "creation" in the 1970s, by Weyrich and Falwell. Religion on one side, podcasts & algorithms on the other -- if only the "base" understood how they've been manipulated by neoliberalism, things might be different today.
There seems to be some kind of deep psychological connection between extreme religiosity and the urge to sexually abuse children. Is it just an opportunity effect, where abusive men are drawn to churches or authority positions whose culture affords them protection?
An even more perplexing question, to me, is why some women seem drawn to men who do these things, supporting and defending them. What is going on there?
I wonder if there is serious research on this, not just easy-peasy social media comments.
Nothing erodes trust faster than an organization demanding the highest moral standards from everyone else while constantly making exceptions for itself.
The “protect the children” crowd keeps producing more plot twists than a Dateline marathon. They want public school teachers treated like groomers for owning a rainbow mug, while their own holy homework factories come with registered-sex-offender footnotes and submission theology. Maybe the problem was never “secular education.” Maybe it was patriarchy building a church school and calling the locked basement “biblical order.”

I saw something like this last night. These people are crazy. Texas is embracing it though.

The most uncomfortable question is not whether hypocrisy exists. It exists everywhere.
