“...a formerly Iron Curtained-off country,…” is incorrect. Yugoslavia was not behind the iron curtain. It has never been part of the Warsaw Pact. Since the 1960’s, travel was unrestricted and people frequently traveled to western Europe and other western and westernised countries.

Thank you for this clarification. They were not locked in like the others, but I believe the people of Slovenia also did not have easy access to the money and western luxuries, even a can of Coke was a special treat.

All those FBI folks pouring over documents for mention of Trump—isn’t that all done electronically now? Just put in a word and see where it’s mentioned?

Re Melania, I can connect the dots and believe she could have been “aided by” Epstein and/or served as an escort to DJT. The web !!!!

As a longtime editor who's done thousands upon thousands of electronic searches, I can report that "just putting in a word" leaves a lot out. Unintentional misspellings for one thing -- I learned long ago never to search on just one word or one name. Even careful writers sometimes get the name wrong; earlier this afternoon I found one in a book I'm copyediting for a major U.S. publisher, and the name was that of a high-level Catholic Church official whose correct name could have been verified easily online (which is what I did, in about 60 seconds). Needless to say, *intentional* misspellings are a stock in trade for anyone who doesn't want to be traced -- which probably includes most individuals the FBI is interested in.

And in any case a name isn't enough. Nicknames, circumlocutions, allusions... how many ways are there to talk about someone? Two thousand eyes are the minimum for a search conducted in terror...

Exceptionally crafted piece Nina! I was always under the assumption that Melania was one of Epsteins girls, period! I’ve read Michael’s work, and have been begging for him to release more details, before he has a bad fall down a flight of stairs, which Trump discussed at one time with Epstein over an unwanted pregnancy…

Let me know if I got this part right in my own research: Zampoli was a real estate agent, and he brought Melania and other second tier models over to “dress up the properties” and help close the deal. I’m sure I’ve seen a picture of them where he is referred to as her roommate. (Nope, the roommate was Mathew Antanian, a fashion photographer, but Zampoli’s agency guaranteed her rent though) The same research found a claim that he had introduced m&t at the KitKat club. I’ll see if I can locate the date on that. — I don’t see a date on the intro, but Zampoli did sponsor her immigration. Also, she was 27 at the time; not exactly the age to become a supermodel.
