The Congress made chumps of us. The Administration just took advantage of the missing oversight and lacking representation. However, our representatives, who failed in the jobs to which we elected them and for which we reward them, are getting scott free of responsibility and consequences.
One might say that they will feel the consequences of the people's wrath today. How many of our representatives will actually be affected, out of the hundreds that should be held to answer.
President Trump and his minions are an obvious, huge, and bright target. I would like to see greater focus on our representatives in Congress who absolutely failed on their job. The President is the manager, so he is there to get things done; his abuse of that role and power are too obvious to miss, but a cheap target for loud and inflaming articles and opinions. But the President does NOT REPRESENT the people — the Congress does or at least is supposed to. Blaming the President for what he does or does not do is like blaming an out of control dog for the damage to a bunch of kids on a playground, but ignoring the person who is supposed to hold the leash. Maybe it is high time to start asking our REPRESENTATIVES about their failed representation and non-existent oversight. Maybe it's time to ask ourselves who, if anyone, is REPRESENTING the American PEOPLE?
The paid-for pardons (from a man whom Kara Swisher calls a coin-operated president) are bad, but it is not well enough known that huge amounts of restitution orders are also waived with the pardons. A small investment by comparison - a million to Trump, relief from need to pay hundreds of millions. Thank you for underlining this element of the grift.
Great piece Nina, and you're absodamnlutely correct: the 🍊💩's administration has made chumps of us all. WTF?
