Nina, great article.

This isn't 2016; the world has changed. America has changed.

Since then, 20% of boomers have left the house; 40% of Gen X and Gen Y have reached voting age.

While Old Man Trump brings in Hulk Hogan, Kamala may have Taylor Swift's endorsement (and presence at the convention). I doubt many of Taylor's millions of young female fans (many now of voting age) have ever heard of Hulk Hogan (and would be dazed and confused by his strip-tease at the RNC convention).

And every nasty racist/misogynist slur that Trump and Co throw out just drives more women to Kamala.

The times they are a-changing, and Trump and his goons will just grow more desperate and self-destruct as Kamala build the Great Blue Wave that will flush Trump's Republican Party down the drain.

It'll be dirty and ugly, but that's a great foil for Kamala's young, strong, intelligent campaign. And she's got an A-Team behind her with a 4-month game-plan. Trump has dirt to throw, and a grave to dig for himself and his neo-fascist neanderthals.

I was in despair a month ago; now I'm filled with hope.

Let them throw dirt; we've got Kamala.

Hillary and others made this moment possible. I’m sure the press will eventually create dumb gender stories but in my opinion the voting public in general has gotten past that and can now more easily imagine a woman president. Hillary running in 2008 and 2016 made it seem natural. IMHO, because of Hillary’s success, I think Harris won’t have to deal with as much noise about it. (I’m not saying there won’t be ridiculous discussions about gender, only that there will be less of it).

Getting Obama level vibes with 2024 Harris. Seriously. She’s that electric and charismatic now!

The next 100 days will be: The Prosecutor vs the FELON. That's why I already ordered a "Prosecutor or Criminal 2024" t-shirt 🤣

I got it from here 👇

and Hillary had some issues overcoming her 'image' with some voters because she had been the target of vicious Republican lies for 25 years! That's a lot of lies and a lot of viciousness. Not surprising that there were voters who did not like her, without being able to say why. There was in fact no good reason why: she was/is a great person who would have made a MUCH better president than Trump (though that's true of my guppy, too.)

I have seen Melania laugh. And the one to make her laugh was Barack Obama.

Wow Megan! You the woman that Trump said blood was coming out from everywhere?

Damn it! I wish that the blood was coming from his neck where that hideous and grotesque head of his had once been.. Damn It.

Great article, great writing. It is true that Italy has a female prime minister but make no mistake: my country is still way behind USA in terms of women in real power (I am thinking of women CEO, for example). And I also think that strangely enough Meloni too has to thank Hillary for opening the door for women all around the world. Now let’s hope there is going to be a Kamala effect too.

I agree about the culture and women and power, and I think that's true in a lot of Europe, in some ways the US is ahead. But that makes it even more weird that we can't elect one.

Agreed. They called it glass ceiling for a reason, I guess

I’m puzzled about a woman laughing is such a negative?

That VP Harris dances??

Trump does that thing where his hips&shoulders are out of sync, & he wobbles his obese body. An embarrassment for all white men.

Yes but it does make me laugh AT him…

Kamala’s laughing is contagious, I’d laugh WITH her all day!

Just a terrific piece. As for Megyn's attack, you'd think she would've stood down, since she, herself, had to deny sleeping with Brit Hume to, pardon the expression, get a leg up in her broadcasting career.

I have lived through this kind of crap, but mine was of the nepo-baby variety. (As if my parents bought the Chicago Tribune for me, and then somehow arranged it so that my column was syndicated in 200 papers.)

You have dialed it as usual, Ms Burleigh! Sharing. What an opportunity we have - the time is right. They went too far and Kamala Harris has the moxie to set them straight. Keb' Mo' says it in his goose-bump inducing "Put a Woman in Charge"...can't get it out of my head and heart. Onward...and thank you

PS. What in the world is wrong with laughter? There's an arch at Yale that says, "Remember me as the sound of laughter." Were I to have a headstone, that's what I would want it to say.

Laughter has always been the best medicine, and that old truism has not changed now. Thrilled to have someone with a sense of humor at the top of the Democratic ticket. By the way, we're not the only country with trogloditic males -- the Taliban regime in Afghanistan is arresting women for laughing in public. It's illegal.

Unfortunately my home country the Netherlands has never had a female prime minister. And the amount of sh!t a woman gets poured over her there when she’s over 45 and dares to present herself as sexy (even if it’s done in a classy way). In the Netherlands when we reach 45 we have to dress in prairie dresses and shut the f up forever. And if we are younger than 45 but don’t have significant breast volume, we really also have to shut the f up. It’s bad. Sorry to say but I’m glad I live in California now. (I did leave Silicon Valley because indeed: misogyny abound there too)

Excellent article! It is about damn time America catches up to the rest of the civilized world! Heck, even Mexico, which is just like Italy in it's machismo factor, just elected a woman to office. It is time.
