"Despite their success, religion in American society is in decline." Would it be dissonant to say, here, "Please God?" I am sick unto the death of religion being dragged around American life like a three-year-old's binky. Fighting over who has the better imaginary friend is bad enough, but public religiosity is just gross.
The “speaking in tongues” charade has always been a performance. And those people in the audience who “collapse when touched by the ‘holy spirit’” are also in on the act as those running the show siphon the hard earned dollars from those gullible suckers’ pockets
