I’ve been feeling this queasy sensation with all the news sources—who do I trust? As the “information” sources all become secondary to financial gain and political power, finding trustworthy sources is harder than ever. Substacks, like yours, are becoming more and more crucial.
The only TV news I watch. is on PBS. Commercial station news is garbage. Even local TV stations in my area dress up the men in nice suits and the women like Barbie Dolls.
A beautiful piece, Ms Burleigh! This needed saying and the timeline and developments are stunningly nauseating. I’m old, so Dan Rather’s memories of when news reporting was a means of presenting the facts to the public instead of a moneymaking enterprise make me nostalgic…and very sad. In truth, they were not perfect at it but today’s drama as news makes it look pretty good. My father worked for NBC radio in SF for 30 plus years. Good thing he’s dead - he would be horrified. I guess it’s just true that money is our god here…another disgrace is the amount of money spent on political campaigns…sheesh…
Finally a “real” journalist (I’m not one) opens the door on what I’ve been trying to tell people for decades: media is NOT liberal, it’s corporate. I’ve been screaming this based on 35 years in multiple areas of mass media, cable & broadcast networks alike. It was always thus, but there’s bad, bad 💩 going doing in the reshuffling of corporate boards. Trying to discern what, no answers yet.
To me. It’s heinous that journalists are complicit in this craven grasping for power & money. I don’t care how much you make - it shouldn’t be enough to willingly contribute to the death of democracy.
I applaud the MSNBC journalists who banded together to stand up to the Ronna McDaniel hiring. There is strength in numbers.
Great piece Nina...Thank you for your facts, your outrage and your clarity.
Thank you for reading

Nina:
Thank you!
I miss Russert’s MTP!
Haven’t watched since.
MTP was once a Sunday morning staple. I always felt better informed afterwards.
That was then.
Haven't watched it in years. There are now many better ways to spend a Sunday morning rather than watching the sad shell of what MTP once was.

I remember that!
It is timeless, too. Time to dust it off.

They can’t fire their entire network roster.
On target!
MSM is owned by the fascist billionaires who install puppets through the RNC. Those “friendly faces” on the screen are . . . A front for traitors.
